Wandering through the deserted streets
Lost in my thoughts, my deeds, my feats,
The loneliness seems to cave in on me
Like a dark shadow engulfing all sense in me.
It leads me to thoughts that never should have come to be
Like, “Is this the life I was meant to live,
Striving to death to achieve everything that is dearest to me.”
Longfellow wrote, “Life is real, life is earnest”
Then, why does it seem to be a pest.
As these thoughts stream through my mind
I suddenly see a light streak showing
Is it a mirage or a silver lining
Whatever might it be, its still enlightening
Its like the ray of hope one sees
When all expectations cease to exist.
I seem to be attracted towards that light
In an ever-increasing pace of stride
As I reach towards it, the dark shadow recedes
Its only the eternal light that I see.
It gives me great strength and hope
And fills me with new vigour and spree
It is the light coming from one’s will
That fills the person’s life with zeal.
